About the Germantown Library Makerspace
The Germantown Library Makerspace first began in 2015, thanks to the creative efforts of library volunteers, staff, and board members. It was, and continues to be, their firm belief that a makerspace supports the mission of the library; to maintain and improve the quality of life for all citizens of our community by providing resources that enhance and contribute to individual knowledge, enlightenment, and enjoyment.
For the first two years the Library Makerspace existed in a small area of the lower level of the library, however as its popularity grew, it became clear that expanding this space was an important step to take. It was in the fall of 2017 that these expansion plans took shape, with a goal to accommodate a wider variety of programs and larger audiences. Once again, thanks to the creative efforts of library volunteers, staff, and board members along with the support of the Hover Foundation, we are pleased to bring this valuable resource to our community.
